About the Post-Secondary Employers’ Association (PSEA)

PSEA provides labour relations and human resource services, including collective bargaining, to the province’s public colleges, special purpose teaching universities, and institutes. As a multi-employer association serving a diverse membership of 19 institutions throughout the province, PSEA supports the public post-secondary sector through a broad range of progressive initiatives and services. 

The Opportunity 

Reporting to the Director, Compensation, Research and Costing, the Compensation Advisor will support PSEA by assisting in the development and revision of compensation plans for the sector, assessing jobs, and providing advice on job description and organizational design to PSEA member institutions. The Compensation Advisor also maintains related databases and advises on general compensation issues for PSEA.

Key Accountabilities

  • Along with the Director, develops compensation systems for the post-secondary sector
  • Evaluates the PSEA member jobs, as required, reviewing responsibilities and requirements in job description
  • Maintains and administers approved compensation systems along with compensation management tools
  • Assists with the development of compensation training and presentation materials
  • Contributes organizational and member data to, and analyzes results of, compensation surveys
  • Conducts market analysis of sector jobs to determine competitive positioning of the existing pay structures
  • Assists member institutions with job description development and advises on the effect to organizational design
  • Supports compensation and bargaining processes by performing requested research, data analyses, modeling, and where necessary costing
  • Administers access to PSEA databases.
  • Provides training to the end users of the PSEA Knowledgebase (KB)
  • Publishes documents and provides user administration for the members’ access to the KB.
  • Assists members with extracting data from compensation related databases.
  • Provides business analysis by:
    • researching viability of special projects (e.g., KB upgrades, website, branding, system upgrades)
    • designing, sourcing, and implementing solutions for collective bargaining; and writing business cases and making recommendations as requested
    • Other duties, as required from time to time, as determined by PSEA

Qualifications Required

Education & Experience

  • University Degree and/or relevant Diploma Program or Professional Designation in human resources
  • 1-2 years of hands-on database and spreadsheet experience required
  • Certified Compensation Professional designation.

  • Strong desire to develop and grow professionally
  • Database and typical office administration program skills
  • Ability to write concisely and analyze writing for ambiguity
  • Able to work with confidential and sensitive information
  • High attention to detail, and high degree of accuracy
  • Able to work independently and prioritize and manage their time appropriately

Salary

$88,488-$101,861 per year.
